Since 1991 the formal requirements of private nursery provision has changed beyond recognition. Standards now required as the norm by Ofsted were available in only the best-run establishments 20 years ago. Little Angels always aspired to the highest standards from the early days because we were our own first customers, so we have always made a point of embracing the best of new practice and keeping up to date with changes in requirements. We are really proud that on all measures, our latest Ofsted report found Little Angels to be in one or other of the two highest grades - strong provision or exceptionally high quality. So how have we continued to keep pace with the fast changing overall climate and parent expectations? We believe the key is in the way the nursery is still run as a family business with the founders in day-to-day charge. Parents can and do talk directly to the owners about every aspect of their childís care and early education - good communication between parents and staff is cited by Ofsted as one of our major strengths. With one of the highest staff-to-child ratios in London, usually exceeding the minimum required by the 1989 Childcare Act, we can and do offer one-to-one care for all children as they settle in. Babies, in particular, are always closely supervised by qualified and enhanced CRB police checked carers. Since 2010 all new staff have an I.S.A. (Independent Safeguarding Authority) number. The majority of our staff is qualified to NNEB, NVQ or Btec standard, we also employ two qualified PGCE teachers. We are proud of our low staff turnover, many of whom have been with us for years. As a matter of principle we do not use agency personnel. |
