July 2015 Newsletter (Highgate)

Parents Evening

Parents Evening will be held on Thursday 8th of October 6pm-8pm.  This is an opportunity for you to discuss your child’s progress and ask any questions about their development. During the evening you will be able to view photographs of a typical nursery day displayed on the walls. We will also be serving drinks and nibbles and you will be able to meet and talk to other parents and engage with our team.

Please note that these evenings are only for parents, therefore regrettably we are unable to accommodate any children. Even on the 6pm appointments, you will need to make your own arrangements for your little ones to be collected and taken home by 6pm.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

The nursery held another successful Coffee Morning with all proceeds (£62.70 in total) going to the Macmillan charity.  Parents had the opportunity to come in and meet other parents, over a nice warming cup of tea or coffee enjoying some cakes and biscuits.

Parent Reminder

All parents are welcome to check their child’s nappy box to make sure they are not running low (depending on whether they are potty training or not) a small pack a week should be enough. Please pop them in to the Office when topping up.

Sun Protection

As the hot weather has finally arrived, please can we ask that you bring sun protection for your child e.g. Sun Cream and Sun Hat (particularly type’s that cover the back of the neck)?

Monthly Topic

This month we will be studying transport throughout the nursery, we have already started building different forms of transport but if you could please contribute any empty cereal boxes, bottle tops etc. and drop them in to the green room, it will really help towards the project. Also, the use of recycled materials links to our ‘recycling’ theme this month.

Show and Tell

Children aged 3-5 years are invited to bring in special objects/photographs from home for our Quiet room ‘Show and Tell’ sessions.

Any objects linking to our themes would be appreciated and provide a support to learning. For example travel tickets, photographs or maps, postcards or programmes from the RAF Museum/Transport Museum etc.

Any artifacts or homemade creations reflecting your child’s interests are also warmly welcomed.

Much appreciated.

Holiday Fun

We have had Grandma’s and Grandpa’s join us in previous years in the summer holidays for storytelling and gardening etc. and would be delighted if anybody would like to join us again this year? Similarly, any parents that are free during the holidays are also very welcome to join us to speak about their jobs or take part in activities.
