Children in need 2016
We would like to thank all parents and staff that helped to raise a fantastic £231 for Children in need at the end of last year, the children also had great fun dressing down in their pyjamas and of course the yummy homemade cakes.
Thank you very much to Santa Clause and his Elves for popping in to see us. The children had a great day enjoying all of the fun activities and receiving their special gifts from Santa.
We would also like to thank all parents that came to join in for the day, all of the children and parents alike had great fun decorating cookies, making cards and joining in with Mabel’s music to sing Christmas Carols.
Upcoming celebrations and festivals
World Book Day 2017
World Book Day is on Thursday 2nd March. 2017. We will be celebrating this by holding many reading sessions in each room everyday throughout that week, sharing stories from many different types of books. The children are also taking part in a wide range of activities around their favourite books including creating story sacks to tell the stories with. We would love it if children came in fancy dress as their favourite character from a book. It is a wonderful experience for children to discuss their favourite stories and characters, and gives children unfamiliar with such stories a chance to explore them. So, please get making those costumes.
If any parents would like to come in and read to the children during the day please mention this to the office as we appreciate parental involvement in all our activities.
This year for comic relief the children in the rooms will be participating in a variety of red themed activities. Red playdough will be made with the help of the children with an extra sprinkling of glitter and red paintings and collages will be created. We would like on this day for all the children to come into the nursery wearing red and the children will be helping to make red themed snacks which will then be available to purchase at the end of the day with all proceeds going to the charity. This will take place on 24th March 2017.
Can we remind all parents to inform the office of any changes in contact details in case we need to contact you in an emergency. Also we would like you to supply photos of all people authorised to collect your children including yourself. This is part of our Safeguarding procedures. These can be sent via e-mail or given to the office.
Green room activities
The children have been using recyclable materials to build different structures; one of their most recent creations was a fun den to play in.
Some of the children also crafted swords from scrap cardboard boxes and parcel tape.
Please may we ask parents to bring in any recyclable materials to help us carry on creating, items such as Kitchen rolls, bottle lids and boxes (not used to store nuts).
Both Yellow and Green room have been learning all about volcanoes in the last few weeks, we have been taking part in fun activities such as building volcanoes from clay and experimenting with fizzy drinks and baking soda to create an erupting volcano.
We have also been building rockets in the green room with scrap water bottles and clay.

My Nursery Child
We have had very positive feedback regarding our new online system ‘My Nursery Child’. We hope by now most parents would have logged on and taken a look at what their child has been doing at the nursery. On the parents site you are able to complete a home assessment on your child, this will provide the key-person with information to support their development. You can also add notes with changes to your child’s routine or anything significant. Please be reminded that for any urgent messages do call the office. We have all notices and special events that are coming up in the nursery posted on your child’s page.
Within the next couple of weeks we will be setting up the e-mail notification system, so each time a new observation is added to your child’s records you will be emailed. If you would like to use this facility and you have not done so already please confirm with the office.
If you are having problems signing in please inform the office and we can look into it for you.
