World book day

The children celebrated ‘World Book Day’ this year by dressing up as their favourite book characters. We read some of the stories that the children bought in and also had Minerva’s mum (Azzurra) come and read a book in Italian, to the Yellow room children.

Building structures

The children in the Green room have been experimenting with structure building and sculpture and have been doing a great job! They especially enjoyed being read stories in the den that they helped create in reception and constructing a tipi.

Making displays

The children throughout the nursery always have fun helping to create our lovely boards that are on display around the building. This particular one was representing the story of the ‘five little speckled frogs, sitting on a speckled log’, which is a favourite in our Yellow room.

Pancake day

We had a great day celebrating Pancake day with the children helping to mix pancake batter and chopping ingredients to add to them, of course Dorcas did all the cooking (so she wouldn’t eat them all!)

Wild Fangs

The children in the Green Room enjoyed a wonderful interactive morning when Faik from ‘Wild Fangs’ came to visit Little Angels, with a selection of animals including a 5ft Boa constrictor, Tarantula, Ferret, Bearded dragon and a African bull frog. As you can see the children were very brave (unlike some of the adults!) when handling the various animals and feeling the different textures. Faik also spoke to the children about the animal’s different natural habitats.

Red nose day

Thank you to all parents, children and Little Angels staff for raising a fantastic £312 in aid of Red Nose Day. The children are so excited to get involved every year by baking lovely treats to sell, dressing in red and trying on their various funny face red noses.

April topic (growing & life cycles)

The children have been exploring growing throughout the month of April, the yellow room have a new garden center home corner and have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the soil and using the various gardening tools.

The green room have been planting different seeds in their new improved Quiet room garden and also have a garden center display in their green room.

We have also had great success with our chick hatching this year with much joy from all of the children and adults alike.

My Nursery Child

We have had very positive feedback regarding our new online system ‘My Nursery Child’. We hope by now most parents would have logged on and taken a look at what their child has been doing at the nursery. On the parents site you are able to complete a home assessment on your child, this will provide the key-person with information to support their development.  You can also add notes with changes to your child’s routine or anything significant.  Please be reminded that for any urgent messages do call the office.  We have all notices and special events that are coming up in the nursery posted on your child’s page.

If you are having problems signing in please inform the office and we can look into it for you.

As part of the new Ofsted Inspection Framework which came in to effect in September 2015, one of the key changes is the way in which our setting is promoting the prompt and regular attendance of children that attend. Although attendance in Early Years is not mandatory we are required to promote and monitor children’s attendance. For this reason please may we ask parents to inform us of any absences for their child whether they are sick or on holiday. This will support us to ensure we are complying with Ofsted requirements.
